- Coverage 1998Survey of Inbound Tourism, not an administrative count. The survey is not carried out every year - there are no figures for 2014 or for 2019 to 2022 - so the series has gaps by design rather than by omission, and consecutive published years are not consecutive calendar years. Individual figures the publisher shades are based on fewer than 30 observations in the sample and carry that caveat on the value itself.
- Coverage 1998Island of Mauritius is a holding label: Tables 14 to 16 of the historical series state no geography, and Statistics Mauritius has not said whether these survey figures cover the island or the Republic.
- Coverage 2011As from 2011 only figures on main markets are compiled, so a country with no figure from 2011 onwards was not surveyed separately; it does not mean no tourists came from it.
